The Hearth of the Home

29 Dec

I have not been shy about sharing my affinity for flames – in the fireplace, that is. Ever since I first laid eyes on our fireplace, I’ve had a vision of what it would look like at Christmas. Well, my vision finally materialized this month, and it would be a shame not to share before I take down the decorations.

Because we had the family come to our house for the Christmas celebration, we decided to splurge and get gas logs. We have enjoyed every minute of being curled up in front of the flames, sipping hot chocolate and listening to Christmas carols on the radio. I’ll really hate to see the cold weather go this year! On the left side of the fireplace are three dried grapevine trees with holly berries and glitter accents, and on the right are the two beautiful reindeer my mom purchased for me from Grandin Road. I spray-glittered small wreaths and placed them in their antlers to match the trees.

Hi! Who makes your fireplace mantle? Gorgeous. Thinking about this, plus stone treatment on the wall around the mantle…..

Hi Aimee, thanks so much! The mantle came standard with our house, so our builder made it. It was white, though, and we had it stained by a local artist. It was worth every penny and has held up well for 3 years now.
