Christmas is right around the corner, so I thought I’d give all of you an early Christmas present. My lovely sister-in-law is a crafting queen, so I asked her to share some of her most recent projects with us. She has created four festive items for this time of year, and I’ll share one each day (in her own words) from now until Christmas!
Project 1: Personalized Stool
I found this stool at a garage sale for .50 cents! I wanted to use it in my classroom when I read to my students at the carpet. However, it needed a little makeover! After browsing on the internet at personalized stools I compiled some ideas together and came up with this end result! It looks great in my classroom and my kids love it! It was very easy to make you just need to be patient the more detailed you get!
To make this stool you will need the following materials:
- Stool( garage sale and Wal-Mart are great places to look)
- Acrylic paint in your choice colors
- Feather boa
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Painters tape
- Black and white paint pen
- Sharpie marker
Step 1: Begin by painting each leg. I used painters tape to create the stripes. You will need to use several coats. After you coat the legs with your background color then you can accent with polka dots in a contrasting color. To create the circles I cut out a circle using cardstock, traced it onto the leg and then painted it.
Step 2: Paint the top of the stool. After your background color is painted then you can accent with your polka dots. I just used a bowl to create the larger circle border. Then traced it with paint pen and added white dots.
Step 3: Personalize! Print off your name using the computer. Lay the paper on the stool and trace over it with the sharpie. It will bleed through. After, go over it with the black paint pen to perfect it. You can then use your white paint pen to accent all of the dots and letters.
Step 4: Spray your stool with the acrylic sealer and let dry.
Step 5: Use your hot glue gun and glue your boa underneath the seat of the stool.
